A pair of titles will be on the line tonight, as Bellator 145 invades the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
On the Spike TV main card will be both the featherweight and lightweight belts, as Patricio “Pitbull” Freire defends against Daniel Straus and Will Brooks does the same vs. Marcin Held.
The other three main card fights also have plenty of intrigue, as Justin Lawrence faces Emmanuel Sanchez at featherweight, former lightweight champion Michael Chandler meets David Rickels and heavyweight Bobby Lashley seeks revenge vs. James Thompson.
All of the televised action begins at 9 p.m. ET after online prelims. FightLine will be providing complete results and live post-fight reaction immediately following the action.
You can find complete main card fight-by-fight predictions below, along with a quick look at predicted prelim winners:
Patricio “Pitbull” Freire vs. Daniel Straus for Freire’s featherweight title
Prediction: Daniel Straus via decision
Straus has to take Freire into deep waters if he hopes to avenge an earlier defeat from this year. During that meeting, the former champion found plenty of success vs. “Pitbull” before getting caught in a submission.
Will Brooks vs. Marcin Held for Brooks’ lightweight title
Prediction: Will Brooks via decision
Brooks has vaulted onto the scene thanks to a pair of victories over Michael Chandler, making even more waves with his comments on social media. But, Brooks is not just a “talker;” he is a super-talented fighter. He’ll need to avoid the dangerous ground game of Held to succeed.
Emmanuel Sanchez vs. Justin Lawrence
Prediction: Justin Lawrence via first round TKO
Lawrence, a former RFA champion, was expected to meet Pat Curran in what would have been a huge featherweight scrap. Now, he’ll need to focus on Sanchez to remain on the fast track towards a title shot.
Michael Chandler vs. David Rickets
Prediction: Michael Chandler via second round TKO
For Chandler, it’s all about treading water. He’ll need some shake-up to get another crack at Brooks, but there is no reason to believe he isn’t in the Top-5 in Bellator’s lightweight division.
Bobby Lashley vs. James Thompson
Prediction: Bobby Lashley via first round TKO
Back in 2012, a still young Lashley was taken the distance vs. Thompson, suffering his second loss. The former pro wrestler hasn’t tasted defeat since, winning his last six. Look for him to make it seven straight with ease.
Augusto Sakai, Adam Cella, Luke Nelson, Hugh Pulley, Chris Heatherly, Kyle Kurtz, Kain Royer, Adam Meredith, Scott Etting, Rashard Lovelace.
