Bellator 132 Results: “Pitbull” Answers The Challenge

Bellator 132 kicked off 2015 for the promotion Friday night in Temecula, California, as Patricio “Pitbull” Freire remained featherweight champion.

Freire turned back the challenge of former titleholder Daniel Straus, locking up the win with a fourth round rear-naked choke.

Making his Bellator return, Georgi Karakhanyan choked out Bubba Jenkins in the first round. Karakhanyan, a former World Series of Fighting champion, locked up a guillotine early in the fight vs. the ex-NCAA wrestling champion.

Bellator president Scott Coker announced after the win that Karakhanyan will compete for the featherweight title next.

Virgil Zwicker claimed a split decision over Houston Alexander and Fernando Gonzalez opened the Spike TV main card with a decision win over Marius Zaromskis.

In early prelim action, Chris Herrera, Albert Morales, Derek Anderson, Steve Kozola, John Salter and Everett Cummings all earned finishes. Morales, Salter and Cummings scored submission victories, while Herrera, Anderson and Kozola earned knockouts.
