Joe Riggs vs. Mike Bronzoulis for Fight Master Tournament title

After a delay due to injury, we will finally crown the first-ever Fight Master champion, as Joe Riggs (39-14) takes on Mike Bronzoulis (15-5-1). Riggs, who has won his last five, suffered an eye injury that delayed the encounter. The referee will be John McCarthy.

Both fighters earned four victories while on Fight Master to reach this point.

Round 1: Bronzoulis going right after the lead leg, peppering it with some stiff kicks. More kicks from Bronzoulis, as Riggs is loading up, looking for a big finish. Riggs lands a left that sends Bronzoulis back and he is continuing to push the tempo. Just like that, a kick to the lead leg nearly sweeps Riggs off his feet; his leg is already starting to show bruising and discoloration. Nice head kick and Bronzoulis follows up with a knee inside the clinch. However, Riggs catches him yet again, nearly flooring him with a stiff right. Big takedown from Riggs, who lands a nice elbow from close range. Riggs takes the back, locks in a hook and attempts to secure a rear-naked choke. A minute remains for Riggs to figure this out and lock it up. He’s unable to clinch it in and finishes the round in control.

Round 2: Riggs right back to where we finished the first off, taking Bronzoulis down and working for a possible submission. Cut around the left eye of Riggs, who complained of a possible headbutt or poke to the eye. Bronzoulis breaks the hold and is working some nice stand-up, peppering Riggs with rights and lefts. Riggs with another takedown and he is working for the submission yet again, as blood covers his left eye nearly completely. Both hooks are in, but Riggs looks a little tired and Bronzoulis gets to his feet. However, before he can get free, Riggs brings him back down. Bronzoulis turns the page and is now inside the guard, working some nice ground-and-pound.

Round 3: Bronzoulis looking to push the action here, landing a nice kick to the body. But here comes Riggs, firing off some quick knees to the body. Riggs proceeds to pick Bronzoulis up and power slam him to the canvas with a double-leg takedown. Joe Warren, a standout wrestler himself, is on commentary and promises more of those Friday when he fights. Riggs, like he has done in both previous rounds, locks in the hooks and is controlling the action. Bronzoulis stands up with Riggs still on his back, trying to shake him off as we go under a minute.
