Bellator 102: Cheick Kongo Knows The Clock Is Ticking

In a little over an hour, Cheick Kongo will enter the Bellator cage for the first time. The former UFC heavyweight says he has a long term deal but knows age is a factor.

“I won’t fight forever,” said Kongo to MMA Fighting. “Not for long. I won’t do the same thing Randy [Couture] did. I have so much respect for Randy. He’s the guy. But, I won’t spend my time like he did.”

The 38-year-old takes on Mark Godbeer at today’s Bellator 102 in the semifinals of the Season 9 heavyweight tournament. Kongo is 1-2 since 2012 and is making his first appearance outside of the UFC in seven years.

The prelims of Bellator 102 are taking place right now at The main card, which has Kongo-Godbeer, starts at 9 p.m. ET on Spike TV.
