Barb Honchak wasn’t given a complimentary phone call or even a text message by Invicta FC officials prior to her being stripped of the flyweight title.
Honchak, who has been injured and sidelined since late in 2014, took to social media to let the situation be known.
“I understand that Invicta would want to take the “interm” off the title since I have been out for an extended amount of time. But, I would have like the opportunity to relinquish and I would have like to have known by means other than Twitter,” she wrote.
Following Invicta FC 19 Friday night, which saw Jennifer Maia defend the flyweight title, Honchak offered her support of the new champion. Maia was the interim titleholder prior to being given the undisputed belt.
Congratulations to Jennifer Maia
