BAMMA Press Release On Co-Promotion With Bellator MMA


In the wake of Bellator MMA announcing that they will co-promote a December event with BAMMA, the British-based promotion has released a press release.

Two of the world’s leading MMA promotions, BAMMA and Bellator have today announced that they will join forces for the very first time to deliver MMA fans a Christmas extravaganza in Dublin on December 16.

BAMMA and Bellator will co-promote the event at Dublin’s 3Arena that aims to provide fight fans with a show featuring a host of the world’s leading MMA athletes from both organisations, all wrapped up in one event.

BAMMA CEO David Green said: “It’s going to be the biggest and boldest MMA show in Ireland this year, as fans get the chance to get up close and personal with MMA superstars from both promotions.

“BAMMA 27 will feature two title fights and a packed card of competitive match-ups. Fans will get the chance witness the return of two division champ Tom ‘Fire Kid’ Duquesnoy, as he looks to add yet another belt to his collection and a cracking featherweight title fight as Ronnie ‘Iron’ Mann Vs. Martin ’50 Cal’ Stapleton.”

Three BAMMA 27 bouts have been announced today with more to follow in the near future. The confirmed fights are as follows:

BAMMA 27 Main Event – BAMMA Bantamweight Title Tom ‘Firekid’ Duquesnoy (c) Vs. Alan ‘The Apprentice’ Philpott

BAMMA Featherweight Title – Ronnie ‘Iron’ Mann Vs. Martin ’50 Cal’ Stapleton

Featherweight Bout Dylan ‘The Nuke’ Tuke Vs. Sean ‘The Machine’ Tobin

For Bellator the event marks the first time they have held an event in Ireland. “Bellator 169: King Mo vs. Ishii” will be headlined by a heavyweight fight pitting “King Mo” (19-5, 1 NC) against Olympic Judo Gold Medalist Satoshi Ishii (14-6-1). Ireland will also have one of its brightest prospects on the card as well, as the pride of Strabane, James Gallagher (4-0) returns home against a yet-to-be-announced foe.

When thinking of a country that respects, understands and yearns for quality mixed martial arts action, Ireland immediately comes to mind,”. “I’m very excited for this event, with ‘King Mo’ versus Ishii in the main event, and I cannot wait to be inside the 3Arena when ‘The Strabanimal,’ James Gallagher takes center stage, it’s going to be a madhouse.”

Tickets for BAMMA 27 and Bellator 169: King Mo vs. Ishii go on sale at, and on Friday, October 14, with tickets ranging from €35 to 145€.

The French phenom, Tom ‘Firekid’ Duquesnoy (13-1-1) returns once more to Irish shores, to defend his newly won Bantamweight title that he took from Shay Walsh at BAMMA 25. The Jackson-Wink standout will be looking to continue his undefeated streak at Bantamweight and to solidify his position in the division on a global scale, with the Firekid already topping many ranked fighter lists across Europe as the number one fighter in the division.

Number one contender & Lonsdale Bantamweight title holder Alan ‘The Apprentice’ Philpott (16-8) is coming off a victory at BAMMA 26: Saadeh Vs. Young against Aaron ‘Smackwell’ Blackwell. This is a matchup that Philpott has been chasing for a while, and he now gets his opportunity to prove that he has the skill set to dethrone the two division champion. Fighting out of Next Generation in Northern Ireland, Philpott will have the crowd behind him as he attempts to fulfil his long standing desire to become a BAMMA World Champion.

Ronnie ‘Iron’ Mann Vs. Martin ’50 Cal’ Stapleton

After a stunning debut performance at BAMMA 25, with a KO of Graham ’Afterburner’ Turner, Ronnie ‘Iron’ Mann (25-8-1) now gets his chance at the Featherweight title. The Iron Man gym owner feels he is reborn back at his natural weight class and believes that this will be the moment that he claims one of the biggest prizes in European MMA, the BAMMA Featherweight Title.

BAMMA Lightweight World Champion Martin ’50 Cal’ Stapleton (18-4) has decided to step down a weight class and attempt become the first ever British two weight division champion, as he fights against Ronnie Mann for the vacant Featherweight title. The FCPC/SBG Manchester fighter is a man on a mission. “Nothing will stop me from claiming what is mine” as he vows that history will be made on December 16th at the 3Arena.

Dylan ‘The Nuke’ Tuke Vs. Sean ‘The Machine’ Tobin

BAMMA 27 sees the return of the hugely popular Dylan ‘The Nuke’ Tuke (3-0), as the talented SBG fighter makes his way into the 3Arena once more to pursue his goal of a title shot in the near future. After battling back through adversity in his last fight against Adam Venture, Tuke is determined to put in the performance of the night at the 3Arena.

Trials Gym Cork head coach, Sean ‘The Machine’ Tobin (4-2) Makes his third appearance on a BAMMA event when he heads into the 3Arena on December 16th to face ‘The Nuke’. With a super strong ground game the master of the North/South choke may look to end Tuke’s night on the floor. However, Tobin also boasts a high end set of striking skills, so expect fireworks in this one.
