Any bad blood between Ashlee Evans-Smith and Fallon Fox was strictly professional. Evans-Smith said transgender fighter Fox apologized after their CFA 12 meeting about breach of etiquette.
“I told her, ‘I need you to know that this was never about hate or discrimination for me,” said Evans-Smith to MMA Junkie. “This was business and I wanted that money. She teared up and we hugged it out and then she left. It was a nice conclusion for me, because there was a lot of negative vibes leading into this, but that didn’t make me excited or make me feel supported at all. It wasn’t about that for me.”
By winning, Evans-Smith won CFA’s featherweight tournament and the check to match. She turned pro this year and is 2-0 with the win.
Fox is now 3-1 with a pair of first round stoppages.
