Stefan Struve is at a place where his MMA career could be over. The Dutch native has been diagnosed with a valve issue concerning the heart. Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, who is no stranger to injuries, had some encouraging words for the heavyweight.
“He has to do the treatment that must be done,” said Nogueira to TATAME. “The time is now to think of his health and be 100 percent. I was very upset, because he is a new kid and talented. I’ve had to stop fighting twice to make serious surgeries, and now I’m here. Struggled and managed to be back, hope he gets well.”
In one of the more gruesome moments in the UFC, Nogueira had his arm broken by Frank Mir in late 2011. It would be almost a full year until he returned.
Struve suffered a knockout loss to Mark Hunt in his last appearance. That March defeat halted the four wins Struve had.
Both fighters have no return information.
