Anthony Pettis didn’t let the home-crowd or anything else get in the way of his dream.
Pettis submitted Benson Henderson Saturday night at UFC 164, becoming the new UFC lightweight champion in front of a pro-Milwaukee crowd.
“I visualized this a lot,” Pettis said. “I went through it in my mind, saw my hand getting raised and the belt going around my waist.”
Pettis and Henderson went move-for-move until late in the first round when “Showtime” grabbed hold of an arm and rolled into the submission.
“I was able to just focus on my game plan,” he said. “Focus on what I had to do to win this belt.”
Pettis also secured a 2014 Harley-Davidson for his victory.
