With some stiff and nasty striking, Amanda Nunes served notice that she is back in the women’s bantamweight division.
Coming off a September defeat to one-time title contender Cat Zingano, Nunes picked Shayna Baszler apart at UFC Fight Night 62 for her third Octagon victory.
Nunes (10-4) was up on Zingano in their meeting last year, but “Alpha” stormed out of the gates in the third and earned the TKO victory. Prior to the loss, the Brazilian had topped Germaine de Randamie and Sheila Gaff via first round TKO.
“I promise you guys I’m going to be a champion,” Nunes said. “I train hard every day. I found myself in the cage again.
“I knew if I landed shots, I would knock her out.”
Baszler (15-10) is now 0-2 since appearing on The Ultimate Fighter and just 1-4 in her last five.
