Alistair Overeem didn’t have to think hard about what happens if he can’t defeat Frank Mir at UFC 167.
“I’m telling you this, if I lose to Frank Mir I’d better start doing something else,” said Overeem on The MMA Hour. “If I lose to him and that’s three in a row, then I’d better start doing something else, right?”
When the UFC started bringing in Strikeforce fighters, Overeem was a favorite in the heavyweight division. He made quick work of Brock Lesnar, but a random drug test ended his title hunt. He lost in his return to Antonio Silva and Travis Browne knocked him out with a front kick at UFC Fight Night 26 in August.
Mir is on a 0-3 run in what could be the end for the longtime UFC heavyweight. He’s a former champion with the latest defeats coming from Junior dos Santos, Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett.
The heavyweights collide at UFC 167 on November 16. It’s from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
