Following his loss to Francis Ngannou at UFC 218 Saturday night, Alistair Overeem offered up praise to the heavyweight and revealed that all is fine despite suffering a devastating knockout.
“No damage and all healthy,” Overeem posted on social media. “Unfortunately lost. Props to Francis Ngannou, I got hit with a uppercut from (hell), one of his specialties which we (knew) were very dangerous.
“Some chill time now before back to the drawing board.”
Overeem was hoping to earn himself another crack at UFC heavyweight Stipe Miocic by handing Ngannou his first UFC loss. Instead, the former Strikeforce champion is now 43-16 in his career with one no-contest.
Ngannou is expected to get the next opportunity to fight Miocic, witht hat bout likely coming in 2018.
