Alexis Davis picked up her third straight decision victory inside the Octagon Saturday night at UFC 170 and made a push to become the next challenger to the UFC female bantamweight title.
Davis defeated Jessica Eye, gaining the fight on the scorecards of two of the three judges.
“It was a great fight,” she said. “I knew Jessica would come out hard. She had to overcome a lot of things and this was a great victory for me.”
Davis (16-5) has won five straight since a 2012 loss to Sarah Kaufman. She is 8-1 overall in her last night fights.
The UFC title will be defended later tonight when Ronda Rousey meets Sara McMann. Davis didn’t let the opportunity go by without asking for her championship match.
“I have a lot to work on, but I feel like I’m one of the top female fighters,” she said. “I want that next title shot.”
Eye, who was in the news for failing a drug test last year, out-landed in strikes, 48-37, and also dominated on the ground.
