No. 1 UFC light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson offered up a correction during a conference call Tuesday.
Gustafsson, who faces Jon Jones for the belt next Saturday night at UFC 165, doesn’t have a reach of 76.5 as previously reported by the UFC.
“My reach is 81.2,” said Gustafsson, when asked about trying to get inside the reach of Jones when they fight.
“It’s not always about reach (though). Footwork, being fast, in-and-out; I’ve really done my homework and am super motivated.”
Pressed further and asked if he feels getting close to Jones is the only way to win the fight, Gustafsson stated, “I will win this fight staying on the outside. No doubt about it.”
