Alexander Gustafsson appeared on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday and shot down rumors that he has already been offered an immediate rematch with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
“No, it’s just rumors,” Gustafsson said.
Just days removed from pushing Jones to the distance, Gustafsson reflected on the contest.
After controlling the action through the early stages, “The Mauler” was hit with one of Jones’ patented devastating elbows.
“I saw stars,” he admitted, after the shot landed in the fourth round. “It was a good shot. I wasn’t out, I was still in control; I just kept trying to move.”
Gustafsson added that his fans in Sweden were “great” upon his return home, but added that he was “disappointed” in not bringing the title back.
“I really wanted that belt,” he said. “It sucks.”
