Down on the scorecards and the final round coming to a close, Alex Chambers went for it all.
Chambers, native of Australia, provided the excitement inside the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, scoring a third round submission vs. Kailin Curran at UFC Fight Night 65.
Throughout the first 10 minutes, Curran’s offense was dominating, as she almost finished Chambers several times. However, Chambers remained calm and focused, locking up an armbar off a kimura attempt.
“I knew I was behind and I knew I had to finish,” she said. “I locked on to that kimura and had to finish it there.
“It was an honor to fight Kailin.”
Chambers got her UFC start on The Ultimate Fighter, losing to eventual finalist Rose Namajunas in the opening round. She also lost via submission to Aisling Daly in her Octagon debut last December.
“The crowd really lifted me at the end,” she said.
