Alan Jouban appeared well on his way to a first round finish at UFC Fight Night 90 after he knocked down Belal Muhammad three times.
However, the debuting Muhammad survived and pushed Jouban to the distance in a thrilling three-round war before Jouban was declared the winner.
Jouban admitted afterwards that he likely broke his hand in the second round and was just trying to “survive” from there.
“He is a tough son of a (expletive),” Jouban said. “So tough. He kept coming back. A lot of people don’t know him but he (was) undefeated, had a belt in Titan FC, so me taking him out says a lot.”
The 34-year-old Jouban (14-4) scored his second straight win and improved to 4-1 over his last five.
“I belong in the Top-10, Top-15,” Jouban said. “I need a Top-15 fight next.”
