UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao will defend his title tonight at UFC 173 in the main event against T.J. Dillashaw. And win or lose, Barao is going to be sticking around for the future.
The Brazilian told ESPN Brazil recently that he signed a new three-fight deal with the UFC after releasing a few verbal tirades through the media in regards to his contract. Barao was recently quoted discussing his salary, indicating he was not happy making less than fighters such as Urijah Faber – who he has defeated twice.
“I just signed a new contract,” he said. “Every and any controversy was clarified. Now, I have three more fights to come and everything is fine.
“All things are good and as we planned.”
Barao (32-1) has won all seven of his UFC fights and is on a 33-fight unbeaten streak dating back to his debut contest. Along with wins over Faber, the 27-year-old has also stopped Eddie Wineland, Michael McDonald and Brad Pickett.
