Abel Trujillo lived up to his nickname Saturday night at UFC 169, literally killing Jamie Varner with a thunderous right hand.
The two went back-and-forth through a round-plus, and Varner nearly had Trujillo finished.
However, the Team Blackzilian fighter landed a huge right-hand in the second that dropped the former WEC champion face-first to the canvas.
When asked what was going through his mind when he connected, Trujillo simply stated, “Oh my God.”
With a second consecutive finish, Trujillo (12-5) improved to 3-1 with one no-contest inside the Octagon. He admitted Varner had him hurt early in the fight.
“I was hurt like a mother,” he said. “But I’m the killa. You gotta kill me in this.”
Trujillo made a plea to face either “(Donald) ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone or Nate Diaz” next, adding, “I’m ready to get the gold.
“I’m looking forward to fighting the toughest guys in my division.”
