Jones went from potential-laden prospect to champion almost overnight, landing a shot at the title on short notice and then absolutely dominating Mauricio Rua to win the strap. Since then “Bones” has beaten four former champions and all in sound fashion. He’s shown no signs of slowing down, using his size and athleticism to attack from every angle. Truly, it’s not hyperbole to say Jones could hang up his gloves as the best fighter to have ever set foot inside the Octagon.
There are a handful of Mixed Martial Artists out there whose eventual enshrinement in the UFC Hall of Fame is a given considering the contributions each has made to the sport. Among them are champions past and present like Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Frank Mir, Vitor Belfort and Rich Franklin, not to mention seasoned veterans including Wanderlei Silva and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
